Summer isn't typically thought of as a time to refresh one's wardrobe, but I always find myself trying to optimize the cool factor (temp, not đ), and update my selection of "air conditioning dresses", as I'm fond of calling them. (Translation: cotton gauze or other airy, non-body-con dress to keep cool in and that is machine washable, of course.) Beyond my typical A/C Dress update, this summer has brought me into some new sartorial moods with some '70s vibes that are a departure from my typical fashion M.O. (I have no idea what is going on.) Here are a few of the things that I've been eyeing this summer to help me feel COOL (in all ways).
Â
1. A/C Dress
One can never really have too many, and I'm LOVING this one from cotton gauze favorite brand Xirena. (I promise, it looks way better on.)Â I prefer it unbelted (or with an actual belt from my closet) and it's just a one and done, easy breezy, perfect summer dress that's ready for jewelry to be piled onto.Â
Â
2. Rainbow Eyes
I'm not sure why (maybe I'm lacking in enough creative expression, who knows), but I'm craving creating multi-colored watercolory eyes. This palette from Anastasia Beverly Hills has made it onto my list.
3. A little irregular
A staple of my wardrobe has always been striped tees - black and white being the go-to. I'm loving these irregular stripes in this sweater by Paradis Perdus made from 100% recycled fibers. It'll feel great for evenings when I finally make it to the mountains at the end of the summer.
Â
4. Tie Dye Update
I'm loving these crisp white "Elton" jeans with a 'touch' of tie-dye from Zadig et Voltaire. Not overdone, they just have a mellow summer vibe that makes me super happy and at ease.
Â
5. Raffia Fringe
I don't know what it is, but I love a good woven raffia bag. You know what I love more than a good raffia bag? A RAFFIA BAG WITH FRINGE? Does fringe make anyone else want to immediately take out their credit card? No? Just me? Ok. I've got my eye on this one from BTB Los Angeles at Nordstrom.
Â
6. A little bit country, a little bit Rock 'n' Roll
No, I don't know who I think I am and why I think I need a leather fringe jacket. (Or maybe we all do?)Â Blame it on my Western roots, I guess. There is something so easy and cool about this one from Nili Lotan. I'm smitten.
Â
7. Charmed
My favorite new pieces from the AMANDA PEARL collection this summer that I've been wearing in heavy rotation are our new pastel Paua Teardrop Charm, and Mini Baroque Pearl. They look great with everything, and I've been hanging them from one of our Bead Chains.
Â
8. The Bangles
I've also been LOVING our new Sodalite Bangle, which also somehow looks good with everything, especially tan arms and gold bracelets.Â
Â
9. Vacation in a Bottle
It being the a Covid Summer and all, there won't be any big Euro travel for me. I have a feeling this perfume from Dior could do the trick though - an olfactory ode to the lavish, sun-bathed atmosphere of this Mediterranean paradise. "Eden-Roc is a woody floral fragrance, a simultaneously vegetal and mineral composition, a fresh and luminous evocation of the pleasures of the French Riviera. Its sunny trail of white flowers, its marine notes and aromatic accords bring to mind the radiant beauty of this Mediterranean landmark cape." Um, sign me up!
